The harvest

The plum harvest traditionally takes place from mid-August to mid-September, when the fruit drops naturally or falls when the tree is gently shaken.

Harvesting is still very often done by hand. One worker can harvest 80 to 120 kg of fruit per hour, placing them in baskets. Each tree will produce 100 kg of fruit on average.
Recently developed techniques are now replacing traditional methods to ensure faster and more productive harvesting and better fruit quality (with fewer split or burst fruit).
