Ente Plum Tree
Latin name : Prunus domestica
Family : Rosacaea
Characteristics : The Ente plum tree, as far as we know, is the result of natural cross-fertilisation. The grandparents were Prunus cerasifera (myrobolan) crossed with Prunus spinosa (blackthorn). The name Ente Plum only became commonly used after 1815.
In the orchard, the trees are generally planted 6 to 7 m apart, in squares, rectangles or staggered rows, giving plum orchards a particularly pleasing, well-kept appearance.
